NWEA trains ZOO trainers on Snake handling

Coimbatore Corporation's VOC Park Zoo staff were trained on handling snakes by our EC member N.Shadiq Ali on November 25, 2011.

Based on the request from the ZOO Director, Dr. K.Ashokan, a training session was organised with support from other NWEA members from Coimbatore - C.R.Jayaprakash, A.Sivakumar and K.Mohanraj.

Staff were trained on handling the Cobra, Russels Viper, Green Vine and Rat snakes which were available in the Zoo.

With this event, NWEA becomes the first agency in Coimbatore to officially train a govt. department. Shadiq Ali has given training to the Forest Department personnel in Ranipet, Vellore, Sirkazhi, Salem, Nilgiris etc.,

It was a happy news to hear from Dr.Ashokan that he too was a Life member of NWEA. He had worked as Forest Veterinary Officer in Mudumalai in 1990's.

A similar attempt to train the Forest staff of CBE Division has been proposed and the proposal was handed over to the DFO three month's back.
